Racer Vest Sewing Pattern PDF
$25.00The Racer Vest is a jersey pattern that’s designed to feel like a second skin. The high neck and narrow shoulder gives the piece a sporty feel and the low scoop under the arms gives you the breathing space to avoid sweaty, tight underarms.
It’s an everyday piece that’s fun to make with the binding finishing giving you a chance to play with contrast colours. The making process is simple without cutting corners so it’s a great piece for beginners or anyone looking to make a modern wardrobe staple.
Sizing: UK Sizes 4 - 28 (with PDF Layers)
Skill level: Suitable for beginners and early makers.
Construction techniques: Simple stretch stitch seams and binding finishings
Suitable fabrics: The Racer Vest is a fitted jersey pattern which means it needs to be paired with a stretchy fabric. You can use a jersey with an elastane blend or a fabric knitted with plenty of stretch. This style works very well with a contrast colour for the armhole and neck binding so you might want to opt for two different colours.
Fabric requirements: Our lay-plans are always done on a single layer of fabric to reduce wastage.
Self Fabric width 150cm | Sizes 4 - 12 = 70cm | Sizes 14 - 20 = 180cm | Sizes 14 - 20 = 85cm
Self Fabric width 110cm | Sizes 4 - 12 = 100cm | Sizes 14 - 20 = 100cm | Sizes 14 - 20 = 120cm
If you plan to use a contrast colour for your neck and armhole bindings you’ll need a 20cm strip of contrast colour jersey.
